Battle of the Books!
Prepare for Battle!
- Junior (Grades 4 to 6)
- Intermediate (Grades 7 and 8)
- High School (Grades 9 to 12; White Pine)
Battle of the Books will be waged with teams from schools across Clarington and the Durham Region in this annual book-based trivia competition! In April/May, teams compete in Junior level (grades 4 to 6), Intermediate level (grades 7 and 8), and/or high school (grades 9 to 12), testing their knowledge of a set reading list!
To participate, ask your school’s teacher librarian or principal to put together a team and register at www.bookbattle.ca starting September 27, 2024.

White Pine
White Pine Battle of the Books is presented by the Durham Region Libraries! The White Pine Award is the high school division of the Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading program. Each year, students read from a list of Canadian fiction titles, and then vote for their favourite. The annual White Pine Battle allows students to represent their school in a book trivia competition against teams from across Durham Region.
