Courtice Community Complex | Thursday, October 3, 2024 | 3-8pm

This is a special community-led event to celebrate Courtice History, to be held on October 3, 2024. The event will be held in the 55+ room at the Courtice Community Complex. The event will include displays of local history items and also guest speakers in the evening.

Collecting Courtice

CLMA is looking to source archival materials relating to the history of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations from Courtice. These items could be considered for addition to the Museum’s permanent collection, following the Museum Collections Management Policy for long-term preservation and access for the community, or for temporary loan for the Celebrating Courtice event on October 3, 2024.

Archival Materials of Interest

  • Artifacts/Archival materials related to:
    • Courtice Diner,
    • Prestonvale Tourist Camp (1920s),
    • Cheese Factory/Shop (1870s),
    • Stalter family,
    • Mr. A.F Rundle’s farm business.
  • Art, in any medium (e.g. hand-drawn sketches, watercolour, acrylic/oil paint, charcoal) of buildings, landscapes, or people of Courtice. Date could be old or contemporary.
  • Scrapbooks created by local residents, related to Courtice churches or other community centres, such as Ebenezer, Courtice Community Church.
  • Artifacts/Archival materials related to community cookbooks (often church related).
  • Images of any early business, development, transportation from the Courtice area.
  • Images of any churches or clubs/associations in the Courtice Area.
  • Early Images of schoolhouses/students from the Courtice area.
  • Maps of Courtice.
  • Women’s organizations (home-front war efforts).
  • Individuals who served in the wars/military.
  • Materials related to the post office or train station.
  • Phone books or city directories.
  • Information on doctors practising in Courtice.
